Is he really viewed as a pantomime villain!?
That really does seem confined to a few on internet forums?

He is by me.

Elsewhere, most darts fans seem to love him. Especially in England.

I don't have strong feelings either way but not sure pantomime villain is a role I'd cast him in.
Manley, Nicholson etc maybe

I am merely talking from my own perspective. He's someone I love to hate. In general, he's seen as the game's reference point, and a legendary figure. Hence why I think the PDC will suffer a bit when he retires.

When Taylor has reached the final of the Worlds in recent-ish years, the viewing figures on SKY have been more impressive than when he is not involved. He's still the biggest star in the game.

The pdc/Hearn must be thanking their lucky stars for mvg.
Even though he is more annoying than Taylor ever was.

Philth will be missed, for a year or two. Think there are a couple players who will make things interesting and if a few new players step up and continue to play well the pain of Philths abscence will be less. A few years ago the pain would have been much greater, things in the PDC in much better position now.

I'm more interested in seeing Corey Cadby squaring it up to Van Gerwen....

If Cadby gets in his face, which he surely will, mvg will not like it.
And to be honest I think we do need somebody who can really square it up to him each and every tournament...

Snakebite's pantomimes last only until he faces MvG at a final which he usually loses.....

As someone who only watches TV darts, I am looking forward to tonight. Had a nice couple of weeks without darts on my TV.

It's next weekend isn't it?
It's the German world series event this weekend.

YAY

Darts: European Championship Live

Thursday 26th October on ITV4 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm

Jacqui Oatley is joined by Chris Mason and Alan Warriner-Little for live coverage of the first session of the European Championship from Hasselt in Belgium. World number one Michael Van Gerwen is the man to beat - he claimed the title for the third time last year when he saw off Mensur Suljovic 11-1 in the final. Commentary comes from Stuart Pyke and John Rawling. Stereo FS

Yes, starts on Thursday as well, on one of the major freeview channels.
I imagine we will all be forced to watch at gunpoint.

Not heard anything yet. I somehow doubt that he'll play both the Euros and the World Series Finals the weekend after but I know nothing.

With the world's in December if he has to miss both in preparation it would be the right call.
