I think Wade would swap his other titles for one World Championship.

He may do. I don't get the impression that it burns into him though.

2 Grands Prix, 2 UK Opens, a Matchplay, Premier League and Masters won over the course of 7 years is a more considerable achievement than winning one other tournament once and nothing else, in my opinion, even if that other tournament is The Big One.

all his floor comps...yes
floor comps and euro titles....yes
the unibet masters yes,
The CLoD yes,
his PL win ...yes...its only a non ranking exbo
matchplay... maybe yes
his 2 uk opens for one world title...no chance...2 genuine majors
his 2 grand prix titles...no chance see above

wade has won 5 proper majors, and 3 secondary titles , the PL, unibet masters and CLoD

What person in their right mind would swop all that for one title ?

It's an interesting question. Someone should ask Wade. I'd say he's proud of his haul. The answer he'd give today may be different from what he'd say at the end of his career.

Indeed, it is intriguing. I suppose it depends on the player. MVG wanted the world title so bad last year. The rest were "bin" worthy. I think that is a bit foolish but then that might be my bias against MVG kicking in.

how many people have won more than 5 majors in the pdc ?

by major I mean proper ranking majors.

Worlds
Grand Prix
Matchplay
UK open

grand slam and PL were big comps but non ranking so do not count

He is a psycho though  he'd have cracked had he actually won nothing between world championships.

I wonder if Harrington would swap his successfully retained Matchplay title for 1 world title. Think he won the BDO Masters as well?

Sometimes other tournaments prove harder to win than a particular world championship anyway. Look at the Matchplay that Taylor won in 2002 when he did the 9-darter v Mason then beat Lowe about 17-15 and Part 18-16 on consecutive nights. He must easily rank that alongside or above some of his world titles. I've always thought of the Matchplay as effectively being a legplay version of the world championship anyway.

harrington might swap one matchplay for a world title, but 2 matchplays ?

no chance

PT13 will have the answer!

Of those titles you list, off the top of my head: Taylor about a thousand. MvG has won 7. Wade 5. Lewis 3. Barney 3. Part 2. Anderson 2. Thornton 2. Harrington 2. Lloyd 2.

I know up to around 2 years ago wade was the second most successful pdc player after Taylor in majors
also in total titles
and was I think 3rd in floor comps (semi finals onwards)

MVG has obviously surpassed that since.

If you add the ranked Las Vegas Desert Classic to your list you can add one more for Part and Barney.

That sure wasn't one of Taylor's mates up there playing him last night. :o

That shit was the perfect game. The attitude, the finishing (%66 ffs), picking off the t19 with utter ease, not buckling under that "Taylor Wonderland" song and that 13 dart leg with two treble-less visits was the icing on the cake.

He's going to leave the rest of his era a mile behind on the trophy count imo.

Oh, and let us never speak of Adrian 'The History Maker' Lewis again. A down right embarrassment to the game.

My favourite moment in the game was his mental breakdown. :D
