Just clicked on this morning, and IFM is asking why people dislike the Jacklins.

Several years ago, or even just a few years ago I would have said that BDO still had a marketable TV product at least in the lakeside and decent market potential in the masters. Of course not as much a moneymaker as any of the PDC affairs, but probably something profitable. The negotiating power of the BDO is severely limited by the incompetence of the board. Of course if there was a sniff of decent money some promoter with experience would have jumped on this. Maybe they have and I fully suspect years ago they had queries and the board was stupid enough to dismiss them in favor of unexperienced flids who made promised they couldn't keep, even before brown. Fast forward to now... Other factors have now diminished any value that might have been left, standard gone to shit, ladies game forced on broadcaster, recognizable faces gone or again just shit. Add to this the growth in broadcasting of PDC, acceptance for some time PDC is the top end.

I know the BDO snubbed Frank Warren, but hadn't Olly Croft gone by then? He hasn't been in charge of the BDO since 2011. At the end of Croft's 38 year tenure in charge of the BDO, they had Lakeside on the BBC, and the BBC had just ended 10 years of broadcasting the World Masters, which resulted in the BDO board feeling the ground move beneath their feet. Yet this situation was paradise compared to where the BDO is at today. Removing Croft has just meant that the BDO has fallen further and faster.
