Correct. Players couldn't get their heads around the size of the stage and the arena, the huge openness of it all. Part was ready more than anyone to take advantage. The situation was very similar in the first post-split Embassy in 1994, without names like Priestley, Taylor, Lowe, Bristow, Wilson, Anderson etc. Part back then was also more ready than anyone else to make a name for himself as others tried to get their heads around the situation.

It wasn't often that Manley's mind games backfired, but it backfired badly when he said about Shepherd "Terry Jenkins and Mick McGowan have both missed darts to put him out. If I get a chance, I won't miss". Manley later missed 2 match darts, before Shepherd beat him.

A young guy posting on Taylor's twitter account states that at his peak Taylor could only ever average around 105 and if playing today would just be an average player lol

He seems to have missed the fact that in his last year Taylor whilst well past his peak won the World Matchplay, reached the World Championship final and was still about No 4 or 5 in the rankings or would have been if hadn't handed in his tour card.

I think he is obviously one of the young crowd who only started watching darts in last few years and knows nothing about the sport beyond MvG
