Last week on the facebook darts discussion group someone asked the question how long before an American pulls of a WSOD win like Heta did.
Response from one of the CDC directors: Five years.

Meanwhile another idiot there in an apparent attempt to justify why America deserves a second WSOD event as Oz has; grasped on to the moronic crutch of "size". This one typically is an excuse as to why darts players here are dog pizzle at darts, as the best players can't get the opportunity to play each other frequently (meanwhile in other recreational sports kids and adults travel great distances to participate every weekend in amateur sports, but somehow in darts drunk white adults are incapable of doing this as they have jobs and families, as if those doing it in other activities don't?) Ok so this individual in a twist of that idiotic claim said America is bigger than Oz. Not sure if he meant geography or population or participants in darts or what? Geography, about the same size. Population America is way bigger and even biggly compared to Oz. But not sure why more people means anything. It matters if they are into darts, and Oz has that one hands down in both spectators and participants. The DPA has been around alot longer than the CDC, has way more events than the CDC, and has put more players into the PDC pro tour and events than the CDC has. A CDC tour card holder has yet to win the PDC NA champs.

If the idea of the World Series is to help grow the game in these areas, then the U.S. should have another event, they need it more than the Australians. I don't get why they go to Germany either, given they have the lion's share of Euro Tour events.

We've just seen it with Heta though, the Australians are producing serious players. Anderson and Cadby both made their breakthrough in the World Series events. They would be mad to move from down under when the talent pool there is far ahead of that of the US. One of the goals is growing the game in these countries yes, but ultimately that's because they want more players on the main tour and in the big events, preferable players from all over the world. And in that respect, the WSOD in Australia has worked tremendously.

I do think an event in Canada perhaps could be happening in the next couple years. I'm just not sure how to fit these all into the calendar, Asia needs an event again, or more likely two events. And it's hard to see them moving from Germany as well when that event sells tens of thousands of tickets every year. Somehow the PDC needs to figure it out how to have more top players who can play these events. It's already tough enough for the top 5-6 with this schedule, there has to be more variation in the invited players. Not easy to do that without devaluing the product though, you can hardly have Ian White rocking up as the headline act.

Calendar wise it really is looking pretty tight. If we say we have about 42 weekends from Feb to end of Nov With about 10 taken by tv majors, 13 taken by ET's and 5 more taken by the current WS, we only have 14 weekends to fit all of the PC's in AND include some new shit, all that before considering how much the PL fucks about the first half of the year.

Only way I can see to make the time would be to move even more of the PC's to weekdays, but that is going to royally screw over those who have regular jobs to do. I cant imagine dicking the non full time players to add some more glorified exbos would go down well. I just cant see where the time comes from at all.

As for what should be added if the time is found, Canada and Somewhere in Asia would suit me fine. Scratching one of the two Australia events and bringing the number of WS events to 6 seems reasonable. Would love to get Germany to fuck off and have two in Asia, one in Japan one in the Philippines maybe, but as the Thorn said, Germany's iron grip over PDC Europe and the top tier ticket sales means that is a non starter.

PDC Europe's iron grip on Europe is not going to be easily loosened. They are based in Germany. All the support services they set up the contracts with are German companies. Their events mostly sell out.
When they have gone to other countries the events have looked like they are not doing as well.

They could still get rid of the WSOD event in Germany, and then use that venue or one of a similar size for a Euro Tour event, binning one of the smaller German venues. I like Emulsifier's ideas to have two Aussie events, two Asian, two North American. Asia is brimming with potential, I can't believe the PDC didn't have an event there this year.
