On the upside, unlike that taxi driver he mentioned to the press, this guy actually recognized Durrant.

Ha!

Says it all when a guy who presumably follows Durrant on Twitter didnt even know the event was on, and yet he was moaning to his local paper about the lack of promotion.

I have no respect for Durrant at all. What on earth does he expect? If he wants crowds he knows where they are.

Indeed. I remember at a pre-event interview with Chizzy, Taylor and the farmer, Chizzy was asked what he thought about Butler qualifying. Chizzy looked confused; he had no idea who Butler was. Remarkable really for what Butler has done in the game.

Maybe he was wondering what Larry the Butler was doing at a darts event.

That aside, best wishes for a quick recovery to the real Larry Butler.

An unexpected use of the loyalty klaxon...

Wayne Mardle @Wayne501Mardle Jun 4
Former champions should be given a spot in my opinion.

John Part @DarthMaple180
No "wildcards" this year, only "qualifiers". Is winning a World Championship not the greatest qualifier of all? In N.America they pass over players who have paid their dues the most this year to reward those who failed to do as much or didn't even attempt it. #retroactive

Tim @ZippySaturn Jun 5
Totally agreed John, past world champions should have a wildcard slot on offer every year, you've more than paid your dues and a place in the grandest stage should be offered when you have stood atop it, really bad form on this @OfficialPDC & @BarryHearn loyalty goes a long way

That's just going to be part anyway.
Pointless exercise.

Not that crap again. Maybe the PDPA should just make all former World Champions into honourary members and let them embarrass themselves free of charge in the PDPA qualifier if they so wish. With video coverage to really drive the point home.

And I'm not even sure what Part is on about with the North American invites.

I don't know. Maybe something to do with this from a few days ago? Possibly considers himself to have 'paid his dues' by having put in effort on the pro tour this year. He has a point about announcing everything at the start of the year obviously.

Dan Thorne @itsdan303 Jun 4
Top ranked player from Canada qualifies. Good news for @DarthMaple180

John Part @DarthMaple180
I’m afraid I don’t , because half that tour is run concurrently with PDC tour events and it is already half over. Maybe if I knew the options at the start of the year... Maybe there is more info to come

If he cant get in the top 64 in the one year list (effectively thats what it is) in the UK, then God help him.

He should really be backing himself to win the outright spot through the World Series event, too. Former world champion in veiled begging for the Canadian "only exists to develop darts abroad" spot, kinda sad to see.

Truth.
He has won £750 at UK Open floor events and £1,500 at PCs. Air miles don't appear on the tables I'm looking at.

You can't have it both ways. You either compete on the ProTour or go and play full time in North America. Is he currently 12th and one behind Snook so whats his problem?

Just win matches, Menzies has had half the opportunities and earned himself 10k

I like John Part but stop moaning man!
