Maybe he could have dragged Taylor down, we will never know.

Probably yes, but he's done his bit (and plenty more)
Though I think he's still dangerous at the odd pro tour event so can't see him losing his card in the next couple years.

Thornton is a strange one he won the grand prix then has fell off the edge of a cliff like thorn said can still be dangerous on his day if tops goes well

His game has fallen apart, same with Newton.
They never had the best action so prone to problems.
Hamilton's problems seem more mental.

It would just give Taylor a free pass into the Worlds for the next 4-5 years. Don't want to see him or anyone else there if they aren't playing the tour. Only other former champs not qualifying are Priestley and Part so a playoff would be a bit pointless IMO
Unless you also include pre-split world champs. In which case after deaths and other less dramatic refusals you'd probably only be left with Lowe v Deller. They're in it together I reckon. #7.5kscam

It's not really something that would have registered with anyone before the BDO began using and abusing the phrase.

Bazza's "the start of an exciting new era" when the BBC signed up the PDC at the height of the Brown fiasco is probably the only time it's been used for trolling. What an utterly majestic kick in the balls it was.

Speaking of which, read this article about Weightlifting the other day. Impossible not to be reminded of the mushroom disasters. It is the gift that won't stop giving.

Yes the first time I remember the term used, with BBC on board was probably too hard to resist

Too right. It was a perfect storm and you could never have made it up.

New era detected in spirit here when Hearn gets in, July 2001. Time will tell if he proves to be more successful than De:Luxe.

Frightening, I made my debut at the Matchplay the year Steve became World champion, I then played him in his debut at the Matchplay in 98, Ive been retired 8 years and hes still going strong!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stone_Roses365 @Stone_Roses365
Do you think if you really practiced hard you could be in the top 50 in the PDC mace? Or just prefer being a pundit etc now?

Chris Mason @Chris180Mason
Top 50 yes but not interested

Yet another good reason why the BDO should be dropped from the Slam
