Hard to say. I believe Unicorn is using lower quality sisal from China for their dartboards, which could be the reason. As to why they're doing that, no idea.

I don't know where Unicorn gets its sisal but more than likely they get it from Africa. I believe that Nodor makes their boards in Africa and they own a boat load or contract directly with sisal growers in Kenya. Nodor bought Winmau back in the early 2000's.

China factories can make some great quality stuff but you have to write the shit into the contracts for quality control or else they are going to dump pure shit on you. My understanding is Unicorn contracts out the making of their boards, while Nodor owns its own mnfg facilities. In house quality control is better and more efficient, a lot of problems can be caught right in process. When your contracting shit out if you don't have a quality control guy on the line you don't know jack shit till the product is packaged, shipped and used.
