"To play in your home country and have a week-long tournament would be great but the problem is the week-long tournaments are all stuck to the same venue all the time," Van der Voort told Live Darts.

"In the PDC we have too many tournaments that are not ranked and not that important so maybe a new tournament would be great, a week tournament that would be ranked in Holland. One question you want to ask Barry [Hearn] is: Do you think it's sport or entertainment? Is he looking at being like wrestling or do you want to be a real sport? Because all the new tournaments he makes up are non-ranked so he can put in everyone who he wants. It's not about who's the best player in the world who plays there and I think that's something to look after, but I'm not the boss."
Is he for real? There are loads of ranking TV tournaments ffs .

Surely a coincidence he's coming out with that after having only qualified for the Worlds, the UK Open and the Players Champs Finals this year.

If he'd qualified for the Matchplay and Grand Prix, you wouldn't see him coming out with that whining.

Sure, let's have another week-long ranking tournament with appropriate TV coverage and prize fund, what could be easier to establish? Now that van der Voort has suggested it, I'm sure Porter et al. will be right on it, but not before slapping their heads and going, "What a great idea, now why didn't we ever think of that?"

VdV a moaning little cunt. More TV ranking events aren't going to help him. The only thing it does is give him more chances to moan about his back.

eventually I'd like to see the World series events turn into something more than what it is.

Funny enough I agree, the Netherlands should have more events, for all their prominence in the world of darts, the Dutch have been neglected a bit. However, a much better solution would be to just move the Grand Prix/Euros there rather than create a new event in an already saturated calendar. They've already moved the World Series finals to Amsterdam, although that's not exactly what Vinny is asking for

MVG: Daryl Gurney is not a tough opponent. I don’t think he’s good enough for the top eight in the world.
I know if I play good, it’s high unlikely that the rest beat me.
Wow. What a fucking wanker.

Glen in an airing cupboard. Still in a flap about Q-School.

"I would love to emulate what Eric Bristow did and win that trophy three times"

I suppose most BDO players today are averaging about the same on modern boards as Bristow's opponents did on the old staple boards 35 years ago... Guess "emulate" is the right choice of words here.

Hardly a like with like comparison. Bristow faced the best in the world whereas I doubt Duzza will face the best in Surrey!

No doubt the pretend world champion will pull out of Q-School nearer the time. He'll probably say he slipped on some ice and put his back out to cover for the fact that he has lost his balls and bottled it.

yup................bluntly explaining what the rest of the planet know.

but Barney and Philth will earn alot more guaranteed arround the world in exhibitions ,than hes ever likley to earn by going well into any tournaments now at this stage.....so itll hardly be for the money............itll just be for a grand spot of ego stretching for the big dutchman.

good luck

And if Barney doesn't have a good enough run at the 2019 World Championship, it's possible that we'll only see him in 2019 in the Premier League, World Series of Darts events, a few tour events to keep his ranking in the top 32, and then the 2020 World Championship. At least by being in the Premier League and World Series events he would get quite a lot of TV appearances.

If he has a bad world championship, he'll need way more than a few tour events to stay in the top 32 to next December. As it stands he's over £50k short.
