Isn't that the international hand gesture for "here's one for you and two for your horse!"?

there's a writing error in paragraph four a proof reader should have caught.

Well that nomination concerns the at-venue operations and 65,000 is the number of fans who were there physically, and certainly from across the globe.

The TV audience figures added up per session globally would be eye-watering.

are you thinking they are not citing the fans that were at the venue?
66,000 tickets were available for the 2017 tournament; 65,000 of those were sold on the first day they were released.

Not a darts article, but does mention it - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/43838766
Authorities getting shirty

For the first time, World Snooker have announced a dress code for spectators with tickets entering the arena.

They said: "Sorry football fans. The event promoter requests that no sportswear or team sport shirts a worn."

Fans will be refused entry and they will have to find alternative clothing if something is deemed unsuitable.

Brian Talbot, who has been attending the Crucible since 1989 and is usually seen sat in the front row, told the Coventry Telegraph the decision was "a load of rubbish".

He said: "[World Snooker chairman] Barry Hearn is an absolute disgrace, he wants to bring the sport in line with the darts. I may as well go in dressed as Snow White or a Smurf.

"He's a dinosaur and he's ruining the sport that I love."

O'Sullivan said it was "laughable" and added: "You pay the money for your ticket, you should be allowed to wear what you want.

"At the darts they seem to be walking around in Superman outfits."

Super Swanky place to play darts. I do like how they have the lanes set off with those mini bar tops. What I wouldn't like is people lining up and using them to place their drinks on when I am playing on a board. Then again I wouldn't go to a place like this to play darts. Still pretty nice to look at.

About 3 times a week or so I google news darts to find what if any 'merican news outlets are writing anything about darts, they are not for the most part. But this flight club has been in tons of articles over the last 3 months. Chi-town known for its food and eating establishments and somehow this place stands out with the number of lines written about it. Here is what some of the food looks like, nice presentation.
use the slideshow feature:

With 15 boards that is a commitment to darts you don't find just about anywhere here in the states, even in Philly which I think is one of the traditional cities of darts with say Boston and the substantially smaller Cleveland.

Snooker, but some comments by Hearn about the young players.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/snooker/44034922
"Kids today are soft and getting softer because life is sweeter and prize money for failure is better," Hearn said.

"If I was a player who hadn't won the world title I'd be spending a long time looking in the mirror and saying, 'Why?'

"In every other sport it goes younger, and yet we've got a 42-year-old and a 43-year-old in the final in what is the toughest field we've probably assembled."

Hearn added: "If I was a young player now, or a Ding Junhui, I'd be looking in the mirror and asking myself some very pertinent questions about what I'm doing wrong.

"Is it lifestyle? Am I too soft? Has the money in the game, which has gone up phenomenally, spoilt me? Has it taken the edge off my game? Have I settled for being good but not great?

"When Mark Williams says he was teetering on the brink in his semi-final, he was still hard enough to pot the balls.

"So I think it's a question of character more than ability, it's a question of lifestyle more than potting, and they've got to say, 'These guys aren't going to change, maybe I'm the one that needs to change'."

Not sure where he gets the "in every other sport it goes younger" from, because outside of golf and darts I really can't think of one in which that's been true in recent years, and those are the two sports which were the outliers in the pro sports landscape, not the other way around. Pretty much everywhere else we see the top players/athletes' careers last longer than they used to, and most young players needing more time to break through.

Can only read into his comments that he doesn't want Higgins clogging up the drawers either.

look old people always cry "in my day it was harder, you youngsters got it easy". Been happening since...well the beginning of women spitting out kids. The irony of it is parents work hard so their kids don't have to work as hard as they did or have better opportunities, and then the grandparents spoil the little shits rotten. So what is all the crying about, they are getting exactly what they as parents and grandparents worked for.

It is a stupid fucking argument put forth by simpletons that have no understanding of the nuance of incentive structures they themselves put in place.

BBC America’s Premier League Darts Hits The Bullseye Online
http://sportsmediareport.net/2018/05/14 ... ye-online/
BBC AMERICA’s new darts series Premier League Darts is proving to be a hit online. The series has generated over 2 million livestream views to-date since its launch on February 1, growing +10x from the first half of the tournament. Livestream views consist of views on BBCAmerica.com and Facebook.

Through 12 weeks, Premier League Darts social engagement has seen an average growth rate of +30% week-over-week, tracking ahead of the 2017 average growth rates of the NFL (+11%), NHL (+16%), and NBA (+21%).

BBCA is the U.S. home to the world’s biggest darts tournaments: Premier League Darts and the World Darts Championship. A fan-fueled fringe sport phenomenon, darts is second only to football (aka soccer) as a televised sport in the UK. It has the spectacle of wrestling, the stakes of poker and it has fans beyond anything you’ve seen in their enthusiasm.

“Darts as a spectator sport is all about extraordinary skill, high stakes and passionate spectacle,” remarked BBC AMERICA President and GM Sarah Barnett. “It’s fantastic to see a US audience begin to embrace this global phenomenon.”
