A current player saying it's tough to fund a go at the full BDO circuit. That will come as a shock to some people who like to claim that is an issue only with the PDC tour.Jobber wrote:Only local papers are covering Lakeshite.

https://www.donegalnow.com/sport/donega ... oys/138181Nathan said he watches players on TV like Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld in a bid to improve further.
He said: “I want to do this as a career when I leave school.
“I want to take it to that extra level and take it to bigger standards against the likes of Gary Anderson.
Brimming with confidence, Boyce has now firmly set his sights on competing with the big boys of the PDC, as he aims to secure a place on the Pro-Tour on January 19 as he competes at the PDC’s qualifying school in Wigan.
“It's where all the really good darts players, like Phil Taylor and Barney, would have started out,” Jordan explained. “You compete for four days and the final four on each day gets a tour card which enables them to compete on the professional circuit.
“I'm going to give it my best shot, but even if I don't succeed, I'll be competing on the under 23 tour.”

Re: Darts articles in the Media thread
Press release sent this morning by M.E.N
A WORLD darts champion is using his arrows to teach kids maths.
Huddersfield-based defending BDO darts world champion Scott Waites is teaching pupils darts is not just about beer and pot bellies it also has an educational side to it.
Nicknamed Scotty 2 Hottie, the Fixby darts ace has been working with schoolchildren and using darts to boost maths skills as part of his DartSmart project.
It’s part of his day job as a repairs inspector for Pennine Housing, a member of the Together Housing group.
He swapped carpentry for the classroom to work with children at Ryburn Valley High School, Sowerby Bridge Junior and Infant School, Halifax, and Rawson School in Calderdale.
He said: “There’s an obvious connection between darts and maths so I’m hoping the children enjoyed their DartSmart lesson.
“As an organisation, the Together Housing Group does a lot of work in the community to help people meet their potential by opening them up to new experiences and creating new life chances. It was great to see the children having a fun time and embracing maths in a new way.
“A lot of them said it was the best maths lesson they’ve ever had!”
The 39-year-old is seeking a third BDO title, having won his first in 2013 and second last year.
He got his defence off to a flying start by defeating Dennis Harbour and now faces Mark McGeeney in the second round at Frimley Green’s Lakeside Country Club tonight.
