Their identity as "The Premiership of World Darts" getting put on line somewhat but then, well, when your horse in the race is PD Taylor...
Taylor made mincemeat of all 3 bdo guys in the challenge games.
Sky had zero to be concerned about

Taylor made mincemeat of everything, including mincemeat probably. Sky were supremely confident in their horse.
Not sure these two were quite taking it quite as seriously in 04 lol.

First time I've ever seen John Lowe achieving a facial expression.

No, no, no, Ted Hankey would have beaten him.

Not in a million years.
Taylor was at one of his many peaks in 2001

Just count the fucking wrinkles around your eyes. Horrific nights. But I have some sympathy for people who put MVG at #1. WOAH To the extent that if you never saw a player, you don't feel inclined to rate them high. I think that's normal. Like me with Bristow. Never saw him. But I have the solution.
You never saw Bristow?
I saw him once, come to think of it. He played John Lowe on the undercard the night Andy Fordham almost died trying to prevent Taylor from winning the eighth set. He was pretty much done by the time I started watching darts closely. Very late 90s. It's a pity really.
Eric Bristow was in excellent form on the night of the Taylor vs. Fordham match in 2004. He played a lot better than I expected, and no yips. Beat Lowe up on the night, 6-1 in legs. Yet, Lowe just about qualified for the 2005 World Championship (his last, as it turned out) while Bristow failed to qualify. I was a bit surprised that Bristow failed to qualify after that win over Lowe.
Yes I remember being very surprised by how well Bristow played. I was expecting it to be a bit embarrassing. It was probably around 2004 that I remember someone on The Internet saying that Bristow would be entering the PDC Worlds qualifiers and that he (Bristow) properly fancied it because his little finger was sticking up again (?!) when throwing, a sign to him (Bristow) that his game was back. It sounded quite exciting. But, nothing. I never saw him again.
It was in November 2004. Wasn't it the only darts pay-per-view to date?
I did see Eric Bristow play again, in the League of Legends in 2008, and that was more like the 1999-2000 Bristow who struggled mightily throughout the campaign and lost all but one match easily, although he somehow willed himself to a win over Bobby George on the first night, 7-5. Lowe beat him up in their match.

Yes. 3-0 to Priestley. Then Bristow beat Evans 3-0, and then Taylor beat Burnett 4-1. Taylor had an 108 average, I think, and this was June 1997 over 5 sets. This was around the first time that I was beginning to believe that Phil Taylor was better than Stephen Hendry at their respective sports. I had Hendry ahead before this, but Taylor just seemed to be going to a level that his rivals just couldn't cope with.

They only base it on Hankey hitting 22 180s in one match, in his 2000 Embassy semi final vs. Mason.

It's the only pay per view darts ever, isn't it?
I never saw any of the League of Legends #LoL. It's fun to wonder what an actually tuned in Bristow might have done at the 2005 PDC Worlds.

Upshot is it's likely to carry some sort of darts coverage at some point, so worth keeping an eye on.
Scum of scum Rebeckah Brooks still lurking i see.
Boring Brendas number one and (almost) only fan.
