They could have some kind of other final, be it a youth final like they have before the final of the Players, or like what they used to do at the Grand Prix with the Irish Matchplay final

Re: Random Dart Stuff
I'd rather watch Taylor, old Bristow, Harrington and Priestley than today's top players.

Well yes. The ITV events don't need it really since the semis and the final are in the same session. But the Matchplay, Grand Prix, Slam could benefit from something like this.

Re: Random Dart Stuff
Weird comment. But if you're referring to the topic I just brought up, I wouldn't mind a little exbo game between 2 old cunts before a big final. Give the occasion a bit more weifhtsennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 5:48 pm I'd rather watch Taylor, old Bristow, Harrington and Priestley than today's top players.

Re: Random Dart Stuff
The PDC has much more depth today than 1997. Darts in general probably has a better talent pool as well.
But I am yet to be convinced that the top players in 1997 are inferior to the top players of today. The boards growing in size has created a false impression. I believe the 97 version of Taylor would beat the likes of MVG, Price and Wright more often than not.
I also find Harrington, Bristow and Priestley to be far more likeable than MVG, Wright, De Sousa, etc.

Price would beat the 90s version of Bristow far more often than not.
The pre-88 version of Bristow was better than Price though.

Re: Random Dart Stuff
From the 1990s darts world, I miss the old atmosphere most. That rowdy, working class atmosphere in low roof buildings like the Circus Tavern, but weren't the mass booing on finishes like today. The feeling when coming up to a Circus Tavern World Championship was special. It was a very different feeling to today. Today it's more sanitized somehow, less personal, less cosy, but it does have better depth in quality. Gerwyn Price has some of the old school feeling though. Price brings that energy, edginess and controversy, and he can play darts at the very highest level of play when on top form. Yet a lot of today's "fans" boo him all the time.

Taylor didn’t like Huybrechts antics nor MVGs. It would be interesting to see what he did regarding Price.

Aye, I miss the atmosphere you refer to. It was still present when I started watching PDC darts in late 1999.PT13 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:44 pm From the 1990s darts world, I miss the old atmosphere most. Re: Random Dart Stuff
They're all before my time really other than Taylor, all i've got to go on really is old classic matches, and I have watched a lot of them. But Priestley and Harrington didn't come across as the most exciting watches in the world, my perspective would probably be different if i'd watched them live thoughsennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:03 pmWhy is that?TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 6:40 pm-1Randall wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 6:35 pm+1sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 5:48 pm I'd rather watch Taylor, old Bristow, Harrington and Priestley than today's top players.
I think majority of the elite players now are all exciting watches, MVG and Price matches are always enjoyable, Wright when on form I love watching, and now we've also got Clayton who's a pretty quick thrower and I love watching his big checkouts
I just think when all the best players today are on song playing against each other it's a great watch.
I don't disagree on preferring to watch Taylor and Bristow though

Taylor once compared Huybrechts to Skippy the bush kangarooHalloweenJack wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:45 pm Taylor didn’t like Huybrechts antics nor MVGs. It would be interesting to see what he did regarding Price.
I don't think Taylor would react to Price in that way. It wouldn't be smart. I'd expect Taylor to internalize any anger and focus it on the darts. It's different with van Gerwen and Huybrechts, much smaller guys that you can possibly intimidate. Kim Huybrechts never did beat Phil Taylor. Price's response would be to celebrate even more if someone moans against him.
