Mitchell came close the Wembley comment (which he repeated last night in his pre-game interview). But Nicholson deserved it on pure volume. He's talked utter garbage all week. SKY and ITV wouldn't put up with him commentating like that on their channels. John Gwynne is god-awful when he commentates on SKY. But he's worse on Eurosport/Front-Runner because they let him go off on his tangents that no one cares about.

I think that's exactly why the PDC haven't let Nicho do any of their big TV events or even been a pundit on Sky/ITV.

He's got zero temperament when he's on commentary. Just spouts everything he thinks of regardless of how relevant it is to the match at hand, which most of the time it isn't relevant at all. I get the feeling that Rawling/Mason/O'Shea are really put off by him.

He's a poor man's Sid Waddell.

Sid could be irritating to some. But his quirkiness was usually clever and witty. And most of what he said was relevant to the game he was observing. Nicco quirkiness is just drivel that few want to hear.

Having said that. Some are giving him rave reviews on Twitter. Strange times.

What's become apparent to me is that Nicho uses commentary to try to show off how clever he is - good commentators will pull from a range of sources to try to make a point, like comparing a situation to another sport or whatever, but they do it to help inform the viewer. Nicho does it because he wants the viewer to think he's smart, which is why it fails spectacularly. It doesn't help that he thinks he's smarter than he is - he genuinely does have those moments I defend him for where he's obviously aware of what he's saying, and it's a nod and a wink to those in the know, but it makes him think he's on a higher level to the rest of comms.

Rawling's a fucking mug but I respect that he's clearly been pissed for some of the evening sessions, he's there to pick up a cheque and have a good time, the BDO ethos.

Early Sid was a real pioneer as far as darts comms were concerned. Sadly as the years went by he became a parody of himself with his head way too far up Taylor's arse

Also, why is Mason criticising JC for slagging off the BDO? That was the subject of the Tweet he responded to (Oche tagged him in the tweet). Mason himself was doing the same less than a decade ago when the BDO was in just as bad a shape as they are in today. We all know why he's changed his tune. But fucking hell, he would be better off ignoring that subject.

Isn't that what professional pundits do chase after some fucking fenian nobody? I mean we see it everyday from the top comms and pundits, relentless obsessed over peoples opinions that don't count for shit.

seriously, it gives the so called pundits and comms legitimacy in a very small circle of obsessed fans. Meanwhile real professionals are honing their skills by writing, speaking, and covering their sport(s) in legitimate media outlets.
