"This is as good as winning the Lakeside Championship," said former Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finalist Durrant.

Oh dear he is now officially dead! lol

I reckon Scott Waites wouldn't have said anything like that upon winning his tour card but, well, you know.

How is it good news for them?
If I were some lunatic BDO fan, I'd be gutted by Durrant leaving. Can't see any way around that. Plus I'd be unhappy at Des for paving his way.

Durrant leaves a wound where there was a figurehead and that's bad news. Which player comes first to mind now when you think of the BDO? Some weakling q-school failure?

Top 2 in the rankings have gone so it leaves q school failure Williams as number one?
Waites will be matching durrant come January at a guess.

My guess is that the Waites mediocrity adventures in Wigan will be sent down the memory hole before they say "Game on" at the Dutch Open, and he'll be feted as the proper BDO stalwart who will continue to lead the system to the promised land. Durrant who?

Reigning 3-time back-to-back-to-back Lakeshite winner shits all over the trophy... again.

The Northern Irish Rob Cross, mate. Another card to a non-Englishman too. Let us know the count at the end.
Big week for Engerlund though overall. 15 of the 19 cards went that way, putting 61 Englishmen on the tour for 2019. Outside of Carlin, the others are all returning to tour status (Bain from Scotland, and Bates and Worsley from Wales).

Bad year for the non-Europeans - Lam, Nicholson, Norman Jnr and Part all off and nobody new in. Only Kando, Cadby (...), Whitlock, Murschell and Petersen flying the Rest of the World flag now.

So yeah, positive European Q-School, mixed UK one.

The BDO lads who got cards should do well, I'm looking forward to how they get on

Three earned it back straight away, I'll always have time for ol' Kirk Shepherd, but Murnan and Bain are depressing (especially after Murnan jobbed away Cammie's last chance at a tour card). Shaggy's love affair with Wolverhampton will surely continue now

Boulton, Pallett, Worsley and Matt Clark earned it back after a year's absence from the ProTour, happy for Pallett, Boulton and Worsley should at least be competitive, Matt Clark was a big surprise though

A few players have been absent for a few years, sorry lads, but I can't see Adrian Gray, Barrie Bates or Nathan Derry having much impact on tour. Reece Robinson may still do something, he's only 26, though his performances in Q-School weren't overly impressive

Looking forward to see what Harry Ward can do, not the best of seasons on the Challenge and Development Tours last year but some good performances in the UK Open and World Youths. Carlin and Wilkinson could be anything, they could be rough diamonds, or they could be complete busts

More drama than Lakeside. Still not sure as to why people keep calling it a lottery. 4 days is enough time to prove your quality and a back stop of an order of merit. I think it proves it with Durrant 2 shit days followed by 2 good days. As for Cammy he didn't pull up any trees did he. Wasn't sure about the points system but I think it was right in the end. Going deep on one day like Painter did wasn't enough so it all can't be bad lol

To be honest the only ones I see doing anything of any note with their cards are Durrant if he can get his act together enough to actually make the TV events, and McGeeney and possibly Jamie Hughes at the floor events.

I think the vast majority of the rest will be back in Wigan in 2 years to do it all over again. There isn't going to be a Rob Cross out of that lot.

It says it all really, doesn't it?

He won 3 Lakeside titles on the trot, a feat that has literally only ever been achieved by one other man in history.

Yet he has instantly placed scraping through Q-School on points, having never ended any day as an overall winner as a higher achievement in his darting career.

I don't know whether that's one of the funniest things I've ever heard, or the saddest.
