Yep that's him, he never won the NOWC, he got to the semi's 1 year, think it was back in 1976
Ahhh Jim McQuillan is your uncle? Why didn't you say so! Welcome to the forum, mate. I think getting an electronic scoring device for your home is a splendid idea!

Thanx, didnt think anyone would know of him, only saw him play once as a child back in early ninties, he's still involved in local league with running it, but people tell me was pretty good in his day :)

I wonder what Jocky would make of the demise of BDO darts on the BBC?

Ps In your face ITG!

You have to also take into account them days the trebles and dbles were atouch thinner
inbetween the thick rounded wiring and stapling system and so much more bounce outs
as it was like such with bounce outs them days and now n then having to duck or move away
quickly to try and avoid a dart come towards you at full flight
the choices of darts also are much better today.

A don't look into averages when playing but only to win no matter what personally.
but its fine to check how many darts you take once the double is done
and then try beat your very best at 501 and for me that's 10 darts.
and if doing the 9 darts then ill only do such when witnesses are around
although may never occur but ill be close if not for trying .

As for Jocky if his average was such then when he won the Embassy the only one big tournament
them days on live tv in January theBdo ..as their was no Pdc and Jocky won such in both 1982
v John Lowe and in 1989 v Eric Bristow both were Englands best players in the day .

So proves a point Jocky being twice World champion proved himself v the best
and done Scotland proud in the process ..ive played Jocky for a little money
ive shared a dartboard for a time alongside jocky Wilson with only both us in the room
after he asked ok if he can join in for some darts throws in a lounge bar in Forfar
in 1986 ^

Also sat with him in Wembleys conference centre in London after he came over to the bar
and shouted over towards me when he heard my lovely Scottish accent where you sitting m8
after I had just bought the rounds for myself and three other darting buddies in the day in 1979
at a Marlborough tournament .

Ye sad about Jockys death and also sad about another very good player i recall also in Angus Ross
when I heard via a darts forum a yr or so ago he had also died with pancreatic cancer
I recall i sat at table beside Angus Ross and his father when in a darts tournament in Nairn
near Inverness in 1986 and he seemed like a decent guy as his father also was
Angus Ross was also a decent darter also whom played for Scotland in the day

Another top darter died also we all know Leighton Rees of Wales whom was first to win the Embassy
on tv or first Embassy won was by him I think without googling ?
Rip to them all.

Today none of the players have any charisma at all in comparison with guys from way back
its like watching paint dry with todays players whereas with Jocky we never knew what we would get
either a player playing below his level or a player playing on top of his game
or an argument on stage to having a bit too many to drink ..fun tv darts them days
unlike todays booring lot .

I know what I preferred a good laugh as well as good darts .

Ive decided to be nice and even changed my avatar for peace as its start of a new yr

and hey I also like many of you English people as i do the Welsh and the Irish
It takes all kinds to make a World :)

But before I leave this very post I leave you with my poem i made up myself
ane hey im proud of it as its very apt for me.

There's a darter fae Fife whom plays the game
and some player he is , Stevie's the name
No man sais he , shall stand in his way
there is no other when on his day

180's are easy, as dbles are so
When he stands at the oche, to put on a show
as his dart hits the bullseye , the other players pout
count 1, 2 and 3 game shot, over and out

Now come try and beat him , if you dare
but when Stevie's on fire, you better beware
Whose No1, on Fife's golden shore's
There's only one outcome, as Stevie's dart soars :D

Cheers guys ^^ Its nice to be nice :)

Also recall standing up for John Lowe in a Scottish club and I should've mentioned such to him

instead of what I did say in the fishermans club in Eastbourne when there
although what I said was facts at the time .

But we move along in life and just have to get on with such and learn from mistakes in life
as sometimes things are said without really meaning such as theres a time and a place
for telling facts and would've been best if I just mentioned about time in the club in Scotland
to John Lowe whom for me has the best style of throwing a dart and his is best 9 darter
ive seen when he went for 141 check out his way at that time.

Cant you do any better little one ^ you've now said this about several forumites :pointing:

Oh ye last but not least for Ginge with the minge vv

As for 9 darters seeing the 9 dart thread is locked i thought why not show John Lowes
perfect 9 dart game in which became history and was my fav of them all
as not only he went the different route with the 141 left as the norm
but he was playing on the older type boards with the thicker
rounded wiring system along with as well as the staples on the old style boards.

So John Lowes 9 darter was first done on tv and remains the tops for me
plus for him he picked up a tidy sum for doing such live on tv .
