It had some classic moments

Basil reaching for the light switch
Mrs Johnson being in the room
Mrs fawlty she go crazy

But I dont like it as much as the remaining ones.
11 Nooo I’m not having that. You forgot the scene where Basil comes out of the storage room and shouts “Right the games up” realising he’s wrong he then proclaims “A bit of game pie stuck up there” before brushing the ceiling 😂

I always loved the scene where he's repulsed that Mr Johnson asks him if a chemist is still open.

On a similar theme there’s one in the Wedding party when the couple ask for a double room and he is disgusted and states they can’t have one as it’s the law of England before Sybil rocks up and let’s them have a room together 😂

Not sure why Sybil won't give him any.

Imo Basil Fawlty has got to be the greatest ever tv character. Runners up would be Derek Trotter and Homer Simpson.

Series 1-5 I like a lot. It gets too silly after that. It has surprising darkness and, if you follow it closely, depth.

Its prolonged 'state of emergency' storylines remind me of Fawlty Towers.
100% agree Brittas is great but the last 2 series are beyond ridiculous especially the episode with the shark in the pool.

The episode where he is trying to get pigeon out of the gym is sublime.

Rands watch this episode.

10 the wedding party

Classic basil misunderstandings abound during this one.
I love it but something had to be 10th.

9 the builders

Basil's penny pinching again catches him out pitching mr o Reilly into battle with cybil, vanishing doors and an appearance from mr baxter from Grange hill.

They change writers for the last two series. Plus Laura leaves and she was the relatable character, a 'proper' actress who gave the thing its shape and made it a bit more special than your average sitcom fodder. It's kind of pointless once she's gone.

I remember the shark. Isn't there an ostrich or something too? A llama? :D oh dear.
