Its oft said that who did the past far better than the future and this is a classic example.
I love the 5th doctor, nyssa and tegan, add in the delightful richard mace, the plague and doctor causing the great fire of London.
It's all there
I vaguely remember a Pudding Lane sign burning at the end which was a lovely bit of Doctor Who. This is post-Adric, I guess?
No adric was still alive
He had to pilot the tardis, very badly

Ah right. I've seen almost everything (definitely everything of Doctors 1-4) but in your seven stories so far you've managed to pick two (Timelash and The Awakening) which I've never seen or barely seen. Rofl.

I wonder if you'll have any black and white ones.

3 mawdryn undead

I just love this one
The brigadier in 1977 and the present, the doctor being prepared to sacrifice himself for his companions, turlough comes aboard, the wonderful valentine dyall as the black guardian and such an intricate story.

Love terminus and enlightenment as well that completed the trilogy.

Enlightenment is really good. Nurse Gladys Emmanuel is in it.

As for Mawdryn Undead... I don't recall much. But speaking of the Brig in latter years, on the 'Battlefield' (McCoy) DVD there's a feature-length cut which restores loads of Brigadier scenes that didn't make the edit. A lovely watch if you enjoy the old boy.

I like the doctor, teagan, nyssa dynamic.
It's the 1 set at a public school in 1977 where the brigadier is a teacher.

2 the war games

The last black and white story
Troughtons last story
Yes it's too long by at least 3 episodes but what a story.
Also spawned the novel players that injected the 6th doctor and peri into the story.

Now, Randall. That's more like it. What the twelve year-olds today would call a 'game-changer'. The end of The Trout, spinning into oblivion. Troughton's son is in it too.

It also spawns the identity of the Doctor's race. I don't think Gallifrey is mentioned yet. That comes later... I think?

I'm a bit foggy too. I do remember that one of the Time Lords at the trial is Phillip Madoc in weird glasses looking creepy as fuck.

This was very nearly the last Doctor Who story ever made. This would have been how it all ended:

1 the caves of androzani

A powerful story of betrayal with the fabulous sharez Jek
The fifth doctor dies saving the delightful peri with some moving scenes and the best regeneration.
Just a pity about colin baker.

Ohh. Finally a director who turned the fecking lights down. When I think of the 5th doctor, it's all studios in bright white light. This one is extremely different. You like the moodiness of it Randy.

Hankey? Well the original idea was less genius. They intended to change the actor during The Celestial Toymaker, where Hartnell is made invisible and forced to play a game against the toymaker.

All we can see is the Doctor's hand. When he wins the game, he is restored, but would have a different physical appearance.

Making my own top 10, Randy. Be with you... probably next week.

I think we may have one overlap.
