One thing always irks me whenever this show is discussed on tv, they never mention that the black guy was just as racist as the white guy.

The program wasn't racist at all. It was taking the piss out of bigotry and always made Eddie look like a fool. it actually championed the black man.

Of course the PC brigade refuse to see it that way.

same with rigsby and alf garnett in the shows i mentioned.

The bigotry and racism of rigsby and alf garnett was the core of the show, showing how their attitude was out of date.

but the pc do gooders could not see the overall picture, as we live in a world where people are more stupid now than ever , despite the amount of knowledge out there and accessible via things like the internet.

Another thing I find hilarious is in a lot of old B&W movies when a female gets hysterical and the leading man slaps the bitch, forehand and backhand, back to her senses. Comedy gold.

Phoenix nights was the last decent show I watched.
The Mary Whitehouse brigade have fucked comedy unfortunately.

remember the old thrillers and horror movies and the screaming bitch be told " wait here and dont move"....and sure enough the bitch go wandering.

Even as a kid i use to think she deserves to die for her stupidity
