A book favour.

Post by Dolphiny » Fri Sep 07, 2012 4:13 pm

Do us a favour, if you would be so kind.

I went to school with a lass who has had her first novel published. It's very good, in fact, it's excellent. Set in the motherland (Cumbria) and about a serial killer.

Up to you if you wish to buy it. That's not what I am asking for.

If you are a member of your local library please will you ring them and get them to order it. It's slowly creeping up the best seller list. If the library gets it that's another sale and she gets higher. If you can't be arsed to read it just tell them you have bought it when they ring when it arrives at the library but it would be appreciated if you got them to order it...at least then it's on the shelf for others to read. It's her first novel and she is sound as a pound.

Details you'll need.

Title: Autotherapy
Her name: Sakina Murdock
Publisher: Rainstorm Press
ISBN: 1937758184
And your library card details

Much appreciated.

Sharky/Dolphiny/Paul.

PS some of the the reviews so far (it's got 5/5 from everyone so far):

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent,
By naomi
this is a superbly thrillin story, builds up the characters from their own perspectives, you dont want to put it down, really keeps you reading and the endin wil surprise you, well worth a read, would reccommend to anyone who likes a slightly dark story

5.0 out of 5 stars Who knew the fells of Cumbria could be so gruesome,
By ADurrant
If you think the rolling hills and fells of Cumbria are a haven of peace, you'd be sorely mistaken. Sakina Murdock's thriller has blood (or rather, an unnerving lack of blood), suspense and enough twists to keep you reading on and on. A tale which causes you to question not only the sanity of the protagonist but yourself, it's a truly remarkable debut for the modern world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally gripping!! Buy it, read it, recommend it!!,
Loved this book from start to finish! I wouldn't normally pick a thriller to read, someone recommended this book to me. It lived up to all expectations and did not disappoint. It kept me in suspense the whole way through. I literally couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading more of S.Murdock's work....

5.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric Genius,
By moley
From the minute I picked this book up it was a shear must have experience. The cover alone invites you into another world that you know is fiction but is yet made real by the sense of place. Anyone familiar with the Cumrian Fells cannot fail to appreciate the authors passion on a very personal level. A fantastic thriller - when is the sequel coming?
RIP Tom Hopkins.

To be honest I was sceptical when I started reading it but it is a cracking read and that's without being biased. She is having the launch party at the weekend (it was only previously available in the US but they are selling it here from this week, hence the launch party). She said to bring the book and she'll sign it but I read it on my phone and she's not signing that. Went to both Primary and Secondary school with her so I have known her since we were about 5 (we're both 34 now). Wow 29 years! Bloody hell. Where does the time go?
RIP Tom Hopkins.

Ok. A sincere thank you then. Thought you were being sarcy. Was chatting to her yesterday. She's trying to get on the Richard n Judy book club thing. Check this out. They only consider books recommended by WHsmiths. Reason? WHSmiths want to get rid of stock.
RIP Tom Hopkins.

Wasn't much of a hardship. I'll phone them if my online order thing was wrong.

I rarely buy books from WHSmith, usually Waterstones. Borders was an absolute mess, almost glad it went bust over here.

As much as I loathe Richard and Judy, it would be good for her to get on the list. Lots of people seem to take their advice.

Don't worry. I appreciate the effort and I agree. The more publicity the better. Told her to get the publishers to contact the producers and include a covering letter explaining her background.
RIP Tom Hopkins.

^^^^^Posh b***ards!
One year I got a bike for my birthday. So I went peddling off down the road and knocked an old lady down.
'Can't you ring your bell?' She said. 'I can ring my bell,' I said 'But I can't ride my bike'

Is it available for the general public to purchase yet?
