If you've no intention of watching the mini series but are sort of interested in how it differs from the film, there's this 10 min vid.

The Shining is a great film.

When that woman gets out of the bath and morphs into a creepy old woman with flaking green skin is creepy as fuck.

She is in the TV version too but only in flaking green form. The saucy bird aspect of her was purely a Kubrick invention I guess.

I watched some 'Banacek'. 70s detective show. Think very much Jonathan Creek.

The impossible crime is intriguing and the solution is too. The bit in between - the TV show, there - is mostly quite dull.

You were right! George Peppard. I don't actually know who that is so he's just Banacek to me. It's an odd show.

I've never seen the A Team.

I do find Banacek as a character very dire which is a bit of a problem. But then Columbo has ruined me for TV detectives I'm sure.

Wasn't he an insurance investigator or something similar?

He was sort of hired by insurance companies as a freelance detective. His fee was always 10% of the insured value of the stolen item if he successfully recovered it.
