Jones is a good call and one that should have got a mention. I note you never saw Botham at his best as he'd piss all over Freddie bowling and batting. Let's not forget the amount of catches he took as well.

russell is as close to knott as you could get, a real stubborn sod as a batsman and hardly ever dropped a catch.

Also a great artist but Knott gets it for me. Didn't Russell lose his place to David Bairstow or was it the other way round?

he did at one stage.

bairstow was more contemorary to downton and french, russel took over from jack richards i think.

think thats covered just about every keeper england used in the 80s.

stewart had the gloves for most of the next decade. think warren hegg and steve rhodes got a few games each.

I think I'd replace Akram with any of the great West Indian quicks of that era.
i went with akram as he is a leftie to give variety to the attack.

struggling to think of a better left arm quick?
