I know fuck all about chess.

But does anyone stand the slightest chance of beating Magnus Carlsen?

He is more likely to beat him than Annand ever was I'd say.
Surely they will play sharper lines.
Carlsen leads the head to head.
Last game they played was a draw though the consensus seemed to be that carlsen missed a chance to win.

I didn't, just follow a few lecturers on YouTube so only see the games they choose to upload.

See carlsen has added knight f3 to his bizarre opening move strategies.

Kind of expected a quiet game to kick off.
Seems like carlsen had the upper hand, especially with caruana against the clock and didn't find the best moves.
Commentators were saying he could have given his rook for a knight and broke through but was down to a couple of minutes himself.

Tension in this hall is incredible. General feeling is a draw but Carlsen still pushing.

Capacity is about 500. Very few empty seats. Also lots in the foyer area watching screens.

Quick glance at the board.
With carlsens pawn structure caruana must be better.
