The first Test wasn't a massive turner. They've only done it since they went down 1-0
They need to win the Series to qualify for the Test World Championship, so that is more important to them than anything else.
It still doesn't explain why England looked at that pitch and picked 3 Fast bowlers and Stokes.
Whatever the pitch
Rule 1
Cover the stumps
Top order batsman really shouldn't be getting clean bowled.
The ball Crawley received 2nd innings was probably the ball of the series. He played what would normally be the right line. I think that ball gets anyone out.
Bairstow ( who I am a big fan of) played two poor shots in his second innings.
In the main they are playing around straight balls
If your not going to the ball
Stay back and defend your stumps
If the spinner can turn it 90 degrees and have you caught at slip then that's too good
Dont let him bowl you with a ball doing nothing
Top order batsman should not be clean bowled
But many a top order batsman have been clean bowled Randall. I still don’t think Crawleynshoudk be criticised for his shot selection 2nd innings.
I was a bowler when I played and my batting philosophy was ‘fuck forward defence, swing the bastard’
Maybe that could be the new mantra for the England team
As a % of dismissals clean bowled should be the lowest and will be for a top class batsman because they should keep their bat and their pads between the ball and the stumps.
Bairstow was bowled through a gate I I could have walked through.

We could have 15 batsmen and it wouldn't be enough

Seems to me test cricket is generally of a much lower standard now across the board
