Don't really get him or Paine.

Is George Bailey not a better option at keeper?

About twenty better county options than James Vince as well.

He only averaged about 35 in the county championship this year

At 6 you mean? Bailey not been given a Test since last Ashes here. He did OK but not good enough to persevere with. Too old to bring back now.

Best option at 6 is Maxwell long term. Marsh at 6 is a very defensive move, worried about batting collapses, hoping for a solid 30 rather than Maxwell who is more likely to fail

I didn't mean Bailey even, I meant Matthew Wade at keeper.

Seems to have a better first class record.

Not sold on Maxwell in test cricket, but Marsh has a shite record as well tbh.

Wade replaced Nevill because Nevill wasn't making any runs, but has played the last 10 tests, only averaged about 20 and hasn't kept well.

England looking solid since Cook went. Will want to score a bit quicker after lunch l.

Quite a good even day of cricket.

If it wasn't for Vince getting run out England could really be in a solid position.

Nice that people got runs who aren't cook and root.

Yarp.

Root never really looked at ease.

Stoneman's was a classic old fashioned test innings and then he got a pretty unplayable delivery.

Cook jabbed at one that he probably did not need to.

Don't have BT so not seen any sadly.
The aussie attack not quite what it was made out to be?

Cummins and Starc looked good.

Hazlewood was dreadful and Lyon is economical but not overly threatening.

The pitch was a lot softer than most Brisbane pitches though.

Decent first day in Brisbane by the look of it.

Shame that mouthy twat Lyon got the run out as Vince was looking set for a big score.

From what I've read so far it's honours even but England could well collapse later with the new ball coming at them
When you actually feel anger over a place like this it's time to get a life
