The World Test Championship confuses me. Each team only plays 6 of the 8 others, and Australia got more points for winning the first Test against Pakistan than they did for the entire Ashes Series.

Are Pakistan ranked far higher than England?

No, there is 120 points available per series, regardless of length. So each match in the Ashes was worth 24 points for a win, and each match in a 2 Test Series is 60 points for a win.

Quality of opposition and home or away doesn't come into it.

left arm short pitched fast bowling is the key to get Smith.

AUS 4/137 leading by 456 runs. MCG deck is quite lively so far, Vics had to headhunt the former WACA curator Matt Page to get it right.
