Think the latter makes sense given the haste test cricket is conducted at now.

Thing is weather will now have a bigger influence on outcome taking 90 overs out of the game. The fifth day if not needed could be used for an ODI as both sides were there for the duration

Fair point, I don't agree with it personally.
The sort of test cricket I like is dead though so of this is progress to keep the format alive.......
