This is a bowlers pitch, the green and overcast conditions tell me bowl first. Root got it wrong.

That said it's not as unplayable as England made it look

They were all out driving at wide ones or playing across the line.
There is always life in a first day pitch but it had little to do with the wickets.

Sun shine in the morning and this becomes a 300 plus pitch.

I remember uncovered pitches and the Windies blasting all into oblivion with bat and ball
