Picked the right fight then.
May 11th definitely a date for the diary.
Groves and Eubank Jr should be good in the first smw semi-final in a fortnight.

The other semi-final not so much.
Think Usyk will win the cruiser weight.
Russian last night was very easy to hit, the Cuban just had no power.
An arm puncher used to winning amateur fights with flashy combinations but doing no damage.
Power comes from your shoulder.
He has power, if not as much as his record suggests, but he was just too predictable, he didn't really have much other than a 1-2 (Gassiev is also made of iron tbf, very appropriate nickname on many levels). First three rounds Gassiev was feeling it out, but after that, all it took was some decent footwork and a basic guard and Dorticos was struggling to land much of note to the head. He's got heart in buckets though, he didn't just lie down when he was tiring

The Cuban was brave, took a lot. Deserved to hear the final bell.
As a contest it was obvious who was going to win after two rounds though.
The Cuban must have fought some chinny fighters

Sadly, I chose to watch Okolie and Chamberlain over the Super Series. I was kicking myself afterwards.

Looking forward to Groves vs Eubank in a few weeks.

Maybe he could have dragged Taylor down, we will never know.

Probably have a look for a stream, not paying £17 for it.

I paid for the first tyson/Bruno.
Sky said it was a one off.

I paid for a load of Lewis fights, think it was a tenner back then

I was never a massive fan of Lewis.

But I do rate him very highly as a fighter. His best wins flew under the radar a bit, whereas his highest-profile wins are not that impressive when you consider the context.

Me either, Bruno out boxed him for ten rounds.

Tyson was also a shell of his former-self when Lewis fought him. Holyfield wasn't at his peak either. He got the job done on all three occasions against them, but I think other heavies could have done an equivalent job.

Lewis's wins over Golota, Morrison and Ruddock are impressive though. I would add the Tua win as well, but Tua was made for him really. Shame the Bowe fight never happened when they were pros.

Tyson was pretty much shot post 1988.
A read of his biography tells you all you need to know.
By 2002 he was a joke.

The Tua fight was sublime, a real lesson in the noble art. Lewis knew Tua had the power to spark him out and had a plan to avoid getting hit. Was a masterclass

Aye.

Cus and Rooney brought out the best of him. After that, he regressed as a fighter.

His trainer for the 2nd fight with Holyfield did a decent job in adding more layers to his game, but by that point, he was impossible to discipline and easy for an opponent to sway off-course.

Gichetti got him back on track for the ruddock fights but post jail he was shot.
What a fighter he was 85-88 though.

Aye.

The Michael Spinks fight is legendary. The Holmes win is still impressive, even if Holmes was knocking on a bit. Tubbs and Tucker were decent wins as well.

Conflicted as to who I want to win.

I like Groves but the Eubank clan massively humour me.
