Surprised the big bash is on the same time as the Ashes. On Sky now. I didn’t see any of the start of the ashes.

Why are you surprised? Its the kids holidays down there, its always on this time of year.

Until a couple of years ago they didn't play Big Bash games on the same day as Tests. But since they extended the Big Bash to 14 games each they need to play games every day.

I see there is a small gap though, assume this is when the day/night Test is on.

Back in 1936 Arthur Worthington was dismissed the 1st ball of the series as well apparently
