It's been 9 years since he played on a table that quick.

He should have played some of the Pro Series/Championship League before entering a proper tournament.

But it wasn't a bad effort, hope he sticks at it and plays the World Qualifiers at least.

Yes and no. They have a Q School to make up the cards to 128 but then they give invitational ones out on top.

Never usually an issue as they dont get all 128 players at every event (maybe bar Worlds qualifying), if more than 128 entered they have a prelim round.
