If the dog is smart she will realise if she wants more food she just has to pretend to be unsteady on her feet

Re: The Official TDF Dog Walking Thread
I've had lots of dogs over the years and never come across this before.
Had snapped ligaments and stuff that requires surgery etc but this is a minefield.

Also had dogs over the years and all developed problems as they got older, I've never never heard of this problem before. I've no idea how this could play out

If they get the balance between food intake and insulin right she will be okM H wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 7:53 pmAlso had dogs over the years and all developed problems as they got older, I've never never heard of this problem before. I've no idea how this could play out
Last night at 7 seemingly her blood sugar was low and the insulin sent her into shock
She literally just collapsed.
I almost followed her!

Re: The Official TDF Dog Walking Thread
Sounds like an almost impossible task mate. I was diagnosed with diabetes last year and too low is just as bad as too high. Can you test her blood before giving insulin?Randall wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 8:06 pmIf they get the balance between food intake and insulin right she will be okM H wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 7:53 pmAlso had dogs over the years and all developed problems as they got older, I've never never heard of this problem before. But its neither as cheap or as easy.
She has to go for "curve days" at the vets where they monitor her readings all day to try and make judgement on insulin levels
Its neither accurate or cheap at this stage.
