Sorry to hear mate.
Lost all mine and my father, it does get better with time, as much as it's a cliche.
I am not sure I would say that it gets better. What I would say is that one gets used to the person not being there anymore.

I remember when my brother was killed in a car accident someone said it would get better and easier with time and for a long time it didn't but what I did learn was how to love with it and adapt to him not being there anymore.

Then when my other brother dropped dead with cardiomyopathy I experienced the same but was armed with the knowledge that with time, one learns to adapt.

Gravy, I do hope everything is ok and wish you all the best.
I didn't mean to sound blasé about it.
The mental adjustment becomes easier, you can remember the good times and not be consumed by grief which at the moment for gravy will be the overwhelming feeling.
It's the little things that still get me, was watching a TV show yesterday and my dad's favourite piece of music was played. Doesn't take much to bring it back.

Yes absolutely. Lost both mine within one hundred days of each other over five years ago. Still miss them terribly but smile often with random memories.

You never lose them completely Gravy. My thoughts are with you

The funeral will be a big help, as will the wake.
It's closure to the first phase of mourning in my experience.

It will, but honestly after my dad's funeral it felt like something had lifted.
Couldn't say why.

Just picked up a nice little comic lot on ebay for about £40-50 less than it's worth.

Had a look at some Xmas presents earlier, couldn't be arsed to buy any though, plenty of time for that.

Did mine ages ago. Grand kids get presents, the rest money.

I seem to have misplaced some of the stuff I bought ages ago. I wonder if I took it to my other off site sheds... Will look in the morning.
