rest in peace Rick Ney. (car accident)

years ago, when I took up darts, one of the quirky things I (or we, if I was playing with a partner) did, to practice
501 games, was to throw make-believe tournaments. I'd set up the board and had to win in 30 darts or less - would pretend
I'm playing against the local big guns. it was always a best of three. Then I had to win the next 2 out of 3 in 27 darts
or less. These were against the good shooters from New York, Philly, Boston, Ohio...Would always write their names
up on the chalkboard. real people with real names. and then on to 24 darts or less which were against the Canadian Hot shots.
I also started cashing make-believe money at this level.
when I got to erasing another full turn, down to 21 darts or less, it was usually against a handfull of top dogs, but
most often Jerry Umberger &/or Rick Ney.
18 darts or less were against Eric Bristow & John Lowe. Intersesting, I'd (we'd) never lose the make-believe cork at
this top level, so always got to start first.

Rick Ney (in real life) loved the double 10's. His in and out shot choice.

RIP J. Geils

Guitarist John Warrant Geils Jr.'s first band, formed in the mid-1960s, was called Snoopy and the Sopwith Camels, but in 1967 the band added lead singer Peter Wolf, renamed itself the J. Geils Blues Band, and jammed its way onto the national stage in the 1970s, touring with bands like The Allman Brothers and The Byrds. Dropping "Blues" from the band's name, the J. Geils Band scored a string of hits in the 1980s, before disbanding in 1985. Giles was found dead at his home in Groton, Massachusetts, on Tuesday evening. He was 71, and Groton police say Giles likely died of natural causes.

It was the J. Geils Band's 12th album, Freeze Frame, that put them on the national map. It spent four weeks at No. 1 in 1982, on the strength of the single "Centerfold," the band's best known hit, holding the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks. You know the song immediately upon hearing the opening hook. The video mostly features Wolf singing about his shock at seeing an old girlfriend in an adult magazine spread, but you can hear Geils' guitar and see him at the end, standing at the end of a school hallway.

The J. Geils Band reunited several times, notably for a 2010 concert in Fenway Park with fellow Boston band Aerosmith. When he wasn't playing, Geils raced and restored old cars and motorcycles

Forty years old Antiques Roadshow cameraman Billy Yates has topped himself.
Why the fuck you would want to stretch your neck when you were pushing your tail into Zoe Ball on a daily basis is a question in itself.

Sir Roger Moore, the longest-serving James Bond actor in the franchise, died on Tuesday after a battle with cancer.

His family shared the sad news with a statement on Twitter, writing, “We know our own love and admiration will be magnified many times over, across the world, by people who knew him for his films, his television shows and his passionate work for UNICEF which he considered his greatest achievement.”

Upon hearing the news, touching notes from celebrities began pouring in on social media.

“RIP Sir Roger Moore. My first Bond and one of the first actors that I loved as a kid. And a lovely, funny, warm person to boot. Farewell,” wrote director Edgar Wright, while actor Jim Howick called Moore his “first hero.”
