rest in peace
Rick Ney. (car accident)
years ago, when I took up darts, one of the quirky things I (or we, if I was playing with a partner) did, to practice
501 games, was to throw make-believe tournaments. I'd set up the board and had to win in 30 darts or less - would pretend
I'm playing against the local big guns. it was always a best of three. Then I had to win the next 2 out of 3 in 27 darts
or less. These were against the good shooters from New York, Philly, Boston, Ohio...Would always write their names
up on the chalkboard. real people with real names. and then on to 24 darts or less which were against the Canadian Hot shots.
I also started cashing make-believe money at this level.
when I got to erasing another full turn, down to 21 darts or less, it was usually against a handfull of top dogs, but
most often Jerry Umberger &/or
Rick Ney.
18 darts or less were against Eric Bristow & John Lowe. Intersesting, I'd (we'd) never lose the make-believe cork at
this top level, so always got to start first.
Rick Ney (in real life) loved the double 10's. His in and out shot choice.
