Only had proper flu once just under two years back. There's no point in taking anything just water and sleep mate
When you actually feel anger over a place like this it's time to get a life

Used to make the jab. At the induction the Prof conducting the induction asked "who has had flu?". About 3/4 of the room (about 25 people) put their hands up. Then he said "and keep your hand up if you ended up in hospital" all but two put them down. He then said "these are the only ones who have had flu" and explained that most people get a bad cold mixed up with flu. Get flu if you're not vunerable it'll hospitalise you. Get it when you're vunerable (old, a young child, asthma sufferer etc) it'll probably kill you.
RIP Tom Hopkins.

He also said it is very rare for the age groups between teens and retirement age to get it unless there is a pandemic and you will be extremely unlucky if you get it more than once in your life.

spanish flu killed more people in 1918 than died in the great war or the bubonic plague in total.

Strange. They must have given the wrong jab for that year. Proof jabs work; Smallpox.

Martin, it's not like mumps or chickenpox as in you get it once and can never get it again because your body then knows how to fight it. Flu mutates every summer so there will be a different strain every winter. Over summer they predicted which three are possible and produce jabs for all three. When I worked there was when bird flu was happening so our plant made that. They make it from chicken eggs!

Gotcha. Fixed ^^ It doesn't guard against colds. Just flu.

The 2012/13 vaccine protects against three types of flu virus. This year’s flu jab protects against:
H1N1 – the strain of flu that caused the swine flu pandemic in 2009
H3N2 – a strain of flu that can infect birds and mammals and was active in 2011
a strain of flu that was active in 2010 known as B/Wisconsin/1

The three they have predicted for 2012/13.
RIP Tom Hopkins.

Had the flu jab once and got flu. Never had it when I've not had the jab. Take from that what you like.

Well you got it wrong. Only downsides to the flu jab are people who are allergic to eggs are at risk if they don't know they are (they just have a mild allergic reaction when they eat them) and you might get a cold shortly after it. Not flu. A cold.
RIP Tom Hopkins.
