Yet another one

Post by gingerjack » Tue Mar 31, 2020 6:56 am

Greetings, mates.

Yet another one boring intro here. Jack aboard. Long time reader, finally decided to join.
All local pubs and clubs are closed because of corona. Isolation is going well, but my old dart equipment is a piece of junk, I must admit, so I'd like to replace it.
So the first question - any recommendations for a proper steel tip set? Any of these perhaps?
Another question to dart players is - how do you train at home? Any routine or new ideas? How do you play w/o company?

Welcome to the forum mate.

As for the darts, the best advice is always to go to a dart shop and try out sets, ask for help etc. Maybe it's not your best bet with the situation now. If you want to order online, get a straight barrel set between 22-24 grams. Unless you already know you prefer another shape/weight. Also as you're buying online and relatively inexperienced, I wouldn't spend too much money on it. Darts Corner's Designa range has what you're looking for. As long as it's at least 85-90% tungsten, you can't go wrong with it.

Practice regime - the key is to be structured. Have a sort of routine. You have to work on all areas of the game, trebles, singles and the doubles, scoring, finishing and setup shots. There are loads of practice games for each one of these. And play 501 regularly too. N01 is a great website where you can play others online. Not the same as a real game but puts you under some pressure. And make sure to play as regularly as you can. I'd advise you to throw every day if you can.
