Question about scoring

Post by vizIIsto » Thu Sep 12, 2019 10:57 am

Hello guys!
I have a question here which is related to scoring.
It happened during my daily darts practice routine. I had this strange throw, where the third dart I threw was resting on top of a wire, but I could not see if the tip of the dart was touching the board or not. It didn't fell out because it rested on top of the other two darts: one was just above and one was well under.
How many points should that dart score?
I have made a few pictures, if you want me to show them I can show them, but if I can't determine from those pictures if the tip is in or not, I'm not sure if you can...
Thx in advance!! :geek:

If it's not touching the board it scores nothing

I know about the rule that if the tip of the point is not touching the sisal, it does not score any points.
But I couldn't see if the tip was touching or not. Then what do I do?

If you are playing in competition then the ref would make a judgement call as to whether it is touching or not.

If its a freindly game, you and your opponent should decide. Depends how mean your opponent feels.

Smithys number one and (definitely not) only hater.

You have to make a decision one way or another.

I might as well show the images here, then you'll probably understand what I am talking about:

I took these images from multiple angles but on none of them could I be sure if there was daylight between the point and the sisal... That's the question I am asking. What should a dart score if a referee can not possibly determine if the point is touching a certain area of the board or not?

Here's another photo but it is sideways because I took it with my phone upright  :

If it cant be determined to be in the board it scores nothing.

So this should score nothing?
Do you think it touches the board? I couldn't possibly tell the difference..

It looks like its clearly in the Board from the picture but if it cant be determined to be in the referee would score it zero.

So you're saying that if it is impossible to see if the point is touching the board or not, it should be deemed 'not touching'?

That's the discussion thing. I'm tending to that the point is resting on the wire and because of the other dart being in, it seems like the point is not in.
I mean, it was kind of a bouncer...

I had a similar shot to this about a week ago. I was practicing bull shots and the first and second darts were bullseye and 25. I missed the bull completely and then tried to hit a 125. Then this shot happened:

The dart is, like, stuck in between the point and the bullseye ring. I couldn't see if it was in or not because the point and the board pretty much obstructed a good view of any angle. I asked Worldwide Darts about his opinion and he said he thought it wasn't touching the sisal, so it's not counting. 75, therefore, and not 125?

Pretty much any opponent would accept it was 125.
Any one but toss Montgomery

Who looks that closely in a game in all honesty.
That would be called 125 all day long

Wouldn’t happen if you played on regulation boards.
