End of the trainer experiment

Post by Grazer » Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:50 am

A while ago I bought an Eclipse Pro Trainer board and I have to say..............I've got worse since buying it. I can see why some would use it but it's really not for me.

Time to get myself a shiny new Blade 4 (played on one last night and it was a really nice board) or Eclipse Pro

What reasons do you think the trainer board has made you get worse?

To be honest I don't know. It could be a mental thing but I don't feel I've improved since getting the board, I feel I've gone backwards

something similar, a while back, I bought a "champions choice trainer toe line".
it's just like a normal regular oche, but, now get this, it's seven and a half
feet farther away from center bull than the official distance. that's almost twice the length.
man oh man, after a couple weeks, when I switched back to the regulation distance,
the whole board looked huge! even the fat singles were massive!!
but, like you, I too, didn't feel that I had improved, grazer,
except for repairing little point holes in the wall and the ceiling during my two week experiment.
I got good at that.

I also bought a couple of those "trainer dart shirts" that you've probably seen advertised
It's like a normal regular dart shirt, but with velcro straps instead of buttons.
it comes with a few sheets of letters that you peel off and stick on the back,
(they're self-adhesive) and they give you extra of the common letters like
the vowels and the more popular consonants, so you can tell they really put a
lot of thought into this. (unless you're nickname is the Quiche Quid from
Queenborough, then you'll have to get out the scissors) anyways, where was I?
oh yeah, it's a normal regular shirt except it's three sizes too small.
well after a couple weeks of tossing in those, when I went back to my tournament
shirt? let me tell ya". the difference was like day and night.
gone was the uncomfortable tightness at the toe line, which we've all felt
at one time or another. my arm could fully extend in my folow through,
which is a another good thing in darts and I could breathe a lot easier,
so less choking, yet another plus when the games are close.
I did find, however, that when training in this shirt, if you have a bounceout,
it's better just to let it lie there,
otherwise when you bend down to pick it up, you'll split the shirt up the back
and they're not cheap.

From your posts i get the impression you score heavy but finishing is the problem.

another time, in my quest to get better, I bought a kit of the "champions choice
dart trainer mixed drink combo" there are a few varieties to choose from and since
I'm a rum and coke drinker I went with that. what a rip-off!
in a nutshell, it's a cheap foul tasting, yet really strong rum that you
mix with the coke that comes with it. which turned out to be nothing more than the
same cheap foul tasting, yet really strong rum with cola coloring added. oh, and there
were little plastic wrapped packets of liquid that the directions say you have to "prepare"
by putting in your freezer for two hours prior to using and then cut the plastic away and add
to your drink. well they didn't harden like I assumed they would, the stuff
just got cold is all and when I tasted it with my tongue it turned out to be
the same cheap foul tasting, yet really strong rum only in clear form this time.

after five of these, I don't even remember practicing or going to bed or
puking all over my darts or how the dartboard winded up in my neighbor's yard.
I tried to get my money back when I went uptown a few days later and the guy
asked me what part of the guarantee written on the box I had an issue with
"48 hours after the use of this dart training product,
you'll notice a markedly improved concentration level and the ability to focus more clearly."
couldn't argue with that. still a rip-off though
