Having the downstairs of my house re-plastered next week so I should be moving furniture around but I think I ought to have a few hours on the board in preparation for the 2nd instalment the old fogies game next weekend.

Thinking back I've played far better on meet ups when I hadn't practiced mate. I think my expectation was too high last time and my head dropped very quickly.

Am looking forward to an afternoon of beer and arrers though, time to let off some steam

Same here mate. Would be nice if we could get a few more along. When there's only 2 of you playing it's sometimes difficult to break the pattern of the game.

If you get a break between legs you get a chance to re-group a bit.

Still the beer and a good laugh is more important than the result by a long way.

If I win more than three legs I'm taking the board down and signing it mate!

Snakey's Challenge

I'm not sure the landlord will be overly impressed with that and we might need to find a different venue for round 3.

Has Snakey told you the exact leg score we have to achieve yet?

Ha ha mate, the money I spend in there I doubt the landlord's gonna care too much!

Snakey hasn't had his bet yet but has told me to root for you!

Well that's me stuffed then , I saw the way you and Skweezit ruined a few sporting careers at Lakeside with your rooting antics.

Ha ha! If I can bang in a few legs in the low to mid 20's I should be able to give you a decent game. That's pretty much as good as I ever got but was the general standard when Red, his mate and I had a session last year. Till we got totally shitfaced that is!

Have to be early on before the ale kicks in. I seem to recall the first leg being the best one and it going rapidly down hill from then on.

First couple of legs were even mate then my game went pear shape and I dragged you down with me. My problem was I'd practiced well and when it started going wrong on the day I did a Barney and beat myself up.

Horrible game is darts as we all know what we can do but when it doesn't happen we get so frustrated with ourselves and it gets worse. I'll never give up and always start the next leg thinking I can win it but reality tells me when I'm on my own case it just aint gonna happen!

Sure is a funny old game. Some days it feels like you're almost putting the darts in board and they pretty much go where you want them too. The next time you play it's an embarrassment and you're lucky not to do some serious damage to the wall.

Definately mate. I know when I'm playing to my standard when I consistently hit the T20 with my last dart and recover from a 6, 21 etc after the first two. That used to be my strength when I played regularly along with finishing. Kept me alive in many matches I should have lost

I'd be delighted with one t20 per throw an a reasonable standard of finishing. That would pretty much always put you in the low to mid 20's for every leg.

Me too mate and been a long time since I've done that consistently. I've been hammered before on the board and pool table and reversed it next time out so will go into Saturday with a positive attitude. I taught my lad how to play pool and taught him to remember how good he is even if he loses a match, there's always next time. It's an attitude that works
