Advise thread - Resident pro

Post by gazman » Mon Apr 15, 2013 5:55 pm

Post your dart related questions to the resident pro in this thread.

I'll start.

I find that after a long session of tossing my wrist really aches. I've tried changing grip, mixing up the action and even swapping hands (that was just odd and couldn't get a good rhythm going) but nothing helps. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Please ensure all money filled envelopes are addressed to The Pro in the Know!!

Now then, Now then Gazman, ( as a former friend of mine would say)

Obviously your dart is too small for the job at hand.

The friction you are causing with your rapid action will result in serious injury. There are a number of solutions but this one I have selected especially for you as you posess a tiny shaft, lubing up between thumb and forefinger should ease the stress on your wrist, beware though over use of the lube and it will be like a woman tossing your dart.....not the same feeling.

Good luck and god bless you.

I'm asking on behalf of Bradders a friend after a conversation we had last July.

He's struggling to find the correct size of shaft that keeps the dart in the target and doesn't damage the bull when it enters. Can you help?

I always promote health and safety when throwing darts, the likes of Bradders need careful consideration especially when retrieving those annoying bounceouts. I suggest bending the legs rather than the back hence making it difficult for an easy entry stance.

Saying that I also suggest covering ones mouth, nostrils and ears once down low.

Selection of dartboard is of highest importance when erecting a dartboard.

The size of the erection will sway your choice of board.

Those with smaller shafts should select the winmau board for tighter fitting penetration.

The big boys (Your resident pro being one) go for the larger unicorn board where it is possible to perfect that double penetration technique.

I've been having difficulty in controlling my release as of late. For some reason I've adopted a short jerky action that results in spraying all over the board. I've tried a more controlled throw, but with the finish insight i get excited and the jerk returns with gusto. Please help.

I having be trying to get 3 in a bed for a long time.
Getting one in the bed is no problem, getting a second in the same bed is no problem either, however the second one wont allow the third to get into the bed with the first.

What do you suggest

Ah the successes on the dartboard, champagne showers everywhere!!!

In my vast experience I find that playing along to music and maintaining a steady rhythm is the answer to your problems.

I suggest you select background music from the following.....

ABC - Poison Arrow
Foxy Shazam - (No) Don't shoot

I have no problem banging them all in the same bed but I understand it is a problem for those with lesser ability.

I find gently caressing one off of another so that they slowly split open is the way to go, if that fails then rough up their tips a bit. After all if its good enough for the world champion then its good enough for the common man.
